  • 10 medium apples (mix of Honeycrisp and Granny Smith recommended)
  • 1 orange
  • 4 cinnamon sticks (or 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Peel the orange and place it in a slow cooker. Quarter and core the apples, then add them to the slow cooker along with the cinnamon sticks, ground cloves, and sugar. Pour in enough water to cover the fruit.
  2. Cover and cook on low heat for 6–7 hours or high heat for about 4 hours.
  3. After cooking, remove the cinnamon sticks and mash the mixture to release more juice.
  4. Cook for an additional hour on low or high heat.
  5. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a pot or pitcher, discarding solids.
  6. Serve warm or chill as preferred.
