  • 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 12 tbsp red food coloring (for filling)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 34 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 23 tbsp plant-based milk or heavy cream
  • A few drops of ivory or peach food coloring (for skin-tone effect)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then incorporate vanilla extract and red food coloring.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture alternately with buttermilk to the wet ingredients until just combined. Stir in baking soda mixed with vinegar.
  4. Fill the muffin tins 2/3 full with batter and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing red velvet cake crumbs with sweetened condensed milk and melted butter. Adjust color if necessary.
  6. Hollow out cooled cupcakes using a knife or cupcake corer and fill each center with the filling.
  7. For frosting, beat softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and milk, mixing until smooth. Color as desired.
  8. Frost each cupcake and decorate with candy fangs, red syrup drips for an eerie effect.
