  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips or chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 12 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add in eggs and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. If desired, stir in mini chocolate chips or chopped nuts.
  6. Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it.
  7. Drop about 1 heaping tablespoon of dough into each section of the waffle iron.
  8. Close the lid and cook for 2–3 minutes, until cookies are golden brown.
  9. Carefully remove cookies from the waffle iron and let them cool on a wire rack.
  10. In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract.
  11. Whisk until smooth; adjust thickness by adding more powdered sugar or milk if necessary.
  12. Once your waffle cookies have cooled completely, drizzle or dip them in the prepared maple glaze.
  13. Allow them to set for about 15 minutes before serving.
